Global English School kindergarten students enjoy a curriculum that nurtures children and equips them with the skills they will need to thrive in the classroom and on the playground. K1 has a curriculum with the intent of laying the foundation of English comprehension and fluency by way of language immersion and exposure. We use the “Key to Learning” curriculum which focuses on early years learning and development in the classroom based on Vygostsky’s theory. K2 primarily focuses on explicit phonics instruction of the English language and further development of math skills using Story Town Pre-K by Houghton Miflin Harcourt. K3 moves the students further along in language comprehension and writing skills, preparing them for the curriculum and class work of Grade 1, by using Journeys K by Houghton Miflin Harcourt.
As students move from kindergarten into primary school (Grades 1- 6), they enter a curriculum that is made up of five core subjects: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Thai language, and Thai Social Studies. Students also receive instruction in computer/information technology, geography, physical education, music, health education, moral training, and art as electives for a well-rounded education. Lessons are taught from U.S.-based textbooks and workbooks: English Journeys by Houghton Miflin Harcourt, My Math by McGraw-Hill and Science Fusion by Houghton Miflin Harcourt.
Students advancing to our middle school level continue on into 5-subject curricula with additional classes including multimedia, chimes, advanced art, and volleyball; students are given the option to choose which electives and specials they wish to supplement their core academic courses. The textbooks used in Grades 7- 9 are as follows: Pre-Algebra, Algebra and Geometry by Glencoe, Integrated iScience, Green and Blue by McGraw-Hill, Literature by Glencoe and Grammar by Heinle.
The high school curriculum builds upon the middle school curriculum in further developing our students’ knowledge of the core subjects and further developing their critical thinking skills. The math textbooks are Algebra 2 by Glencoe, Advanced Mathematics (Pre-Calc) by Glencoe, Statistics by Cengage, Calculus by McDougal-Littell and Business Math by McGraw-Hill. Science classes are based off of lessons in Biology by Glencoe, Chemistry by Glencoe, Principles of Physics by Thompson Books and Global (Environmental) Science by Kendall Hunt. Aside from grammar exercises and research papers, the English classes for G10-G12 students emphasize higher level reading comprehension by using the textbooks Literature by Glencoe, as well as various novels.
